MAKE A DIFFERENCE: Dec. 23, 2011

Dear Friends & Family,

As many of you may know, this past year I have been involved with BKP-California, a non-profit organization that promotes literacy and education for children in poverty stricken areas of the Philippines by sending donated books to schools and community libraries in need. This past Spring, we were able to send over 4,000 books to libraries in Quezon City and Bidduang, Pamplona in the Cagayan Valley Province (see pictures here). Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this possible!

With the success of the Spring Book Drive, BKP-California was sought out to assist in donating books to libraries in 6 new locations, including Surigao Del Sur, Cagayan Valley, and the barangay of Baloy in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija (in conjunction with Books For A Cause). BKP-California has been collecting books this past Fall/Winter to be shipped to these new locations in early January of 2012.

This Friday, December 23, 2011, BKP-California will be hosting a holiday fundraiser at Little Joy Bar in Echo Park from 9pm-2am, featuring music by Sosupersam, Zeb, Myster-e?, and Wrex! We will be accepting $5 donations at the door as well as holding $2 raffles sponsored by Acrylick Clothing, Villany Product, Backside, and 626ers. All money collected will go towards shipping costs for the Fall/Winter book drive. If you can’t attend but still want to donate, you can do so through our website (BKP-California is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and all donations are tax deductible)! Come out and have a good time for a good cause!
